The Hnic Mixtapes sits down with Carolinas own "Trish" who is the owner and operator of Trishfit.org. In the urban world many people of color are considered to be individuals who enjoy a life of partying all while ignoring basic responsibilities such as taking care of their bodies. Trish is a personal fitness trainer who is a person of color that proves not all stereotypes are true.

Q) So how long have you been a fitness trainer? A) Beginning of 2018
Q) What inspired you? A) I lost 40 pounds and the love of dance. Dancing makes me happy and I make people happy when I dance with them.
Q) Do you feel like hip hop music is good for exercise, training etc? A) Absolutely, Hip hop promotes an adrenaline rush. It helps me to zone out and feel the vibe.
Q) Tell us a bit of info about Trish, where you're from etc. A) I’m from Winston Salem. I always loved to dance. I won 1st place as a 10-year-old in summer camp. That’s when recognized that I had a love for performing. When I won best dancer of West Forsyth high school I was ready to pursue a career in dancing. I went to UNCG with the dance major. But then I changed careers and came back to dancing at the age of 40.
Q) Any advice you'd like to give to young ladies trying to get their bodies and health in order? A) The first step to get your health in order is recognizing what you want to change and making goals daily in order to obtain the body you want. Drink plenty of water. Find a meal plan that works for you.

Donald Denard Jackson Jr. AKA D.O.N was born January 19th; to his parents of Renae Cook and Donald Jackson Sr. in Gainesville, FL. D.O.N has two half siblings from his mother and is the only child on his father’s side. Both his parents are still alive and residing in Gainesville.
 

D.O.N was raised by his Grandparents, Clarence and Lilly Cook, on 5th Avenue in the Seminary Lane housing projects. Growing up D.O.N’s grandparents were known in the neighborhood has the local ‘bootleggers’. Showing D.O.N from a very early age how to hustle and earn a dollar. Selling loose cigarettes and sodas on his front porch before jumping off and heading to the streets themselves. Followed by numerous fights, stints in jail, and even shootouts, D.O.N continues to find his way to the ‘top of the pile’ and never stops hustling. Overcoming many obstacles and hardships in life to achieve his goals and dreams.

D.O.N. is not only a father of three (3) daughters but a husband as well. He and his wife, Laverne Jackson, were married on April 16th, 2011. D.O.N.’s daughter Trinity Jackson also has a joy and passion for music like her father. They are often in the studio together and you can find her name in many of D.O.N.’s writer’s and producer’s credits.

His stage name, D.O.N. is not only a play on his own name but is an acrostic for ‘Doin Only Numbas’ which is a movement/mind. Symbolizing getting money, whatever you’re doing, your “doin only numbas” to get money.

Influenced by legendary artists like Scarface, Tupac, Biggie, N.W.A., Eightball/MJG, T.I., Master P, Cash Money, Pastor Troy, Nipsey Hussle, & James Prince. It’s the influence and inspiration from legends like these that D.O.N. felt the pull to hit the studio and show the newer generation what they’d been missing.

D.O.N. started his label, Street Kartel Music, in 2012. D.O.N first mixtape, I Stand Alone, dropped in 2013. Realizing he needed more knowledge, experience, and strategy for the next project D.O.N took a step back to ‘see the bigger picture’ so to speak and set out to find all the info he needed to make his passion a career. Attending conferences, panels and other various networking events soaking up all the knowledge offered and available from those in attendance. [New Video] NY Is Back - Jehovah Nissi Ft. Fred The Godson @hovanissi

Jehovah Nissi aka Hova got his name from Biblical scripture Exodus 17:15. It is derived from Moses seeking God during trials with the Israelite’s. The Puerto Rican artist has a unique style of witty and entertaining lyrical appeal. This was heavily influenced by battle rap culture and growing up during the Golden Era of 90s Hip Hop. Nissi looked up to iconic pioneer rappers such as Run D.M.C, Grand Master Flash and Dana Dane. Within his music, Hova Nissi draws from his inspirations and delivers versatile classic 90s Hip Hop vibes with a modern day twist.

Hova’s talents aren't only limited to rhyming, he handles his own production and weaves live instruments such as Bass Guitar and Talk Box into his music. He is also a seasoned audio engineer. Jehovah Nissi is an artist with many hats and is definitely on the rise within the game.

His latest visuals for single “New York Is Back” featuring Fred The Godson, is a true New York anthem. The video delivers on iconic big apple hip hop scenery such as Yankee Stadium, and aerial views of the city that never sleeps. The two are rapping in front of a Big Pun mural. Artist Bad Gyal Shi Shi is set to release new music this summer under her deal with Sony/Orchard.

With her vibrant style of dancehall and reggae music, Bad Gyal Shi Shi is heavily making a name for herself. From Chicago Illinois but born in Milwaukee Wisconsin, her ability to move people through her performances was noted early on. Her earlier single releases, “Oh boy” and “Too Fine” have already made an impact on radio and other musical outlets. She was featured in a command performance at 3am Studios as well as The Rhi Showcase. She has currently worked with producers Kingz Bread Ent., who produced for R&B sensation Jagged Edge, Ace Drucci from Cap City Media Group, and Dj Strong with Lyvation Ent on her project as well.

Coinciding with her upcoming shows and media promotional campaign, she is live on air as a radio personality on the station 89.1 FM in Atlanta, Ga. Her message to her fans and female listeners is one of hope and courage to always stay united and believe in a higher power. Her music is also about strength and good energy both given and received. As she builds her platform, she will be featured on numerous stages as a major act.

DeAndre Turner better known as A’Boog, is and American hip-hop artist from Washington DC. He started his self-made label CircleBoyz Ent. in 2014 when he began to take his music career serious. In 2017 his career began to hit the ground running. A’Boog dropped his first single “So Amazing” during a live online radio interview on WinDC Radio hosted by Pandora Love. Single's “The Way That I Flex” and “Back Then” dropped shortly after with live on-air interviews with radio show host Tony Redz of WPGC 95.5. In 2017 he also did a live interview/performance on WLVS internet radio on the Eddie Kane Show. A’Boog grew up listening to Lil Wayne, Usher, Jagged Edge, Dru Hill, DMX, and JaRule; his biggest inspirations in the industry are the late Michael Jackson and Chris Brown. As a up and coming DMV hip-hop artist and songwriter A’Boog has had the opportunity to perform at The Independent Artist Celebration as well as CEO Den-Den 2017 Black and White Birthday Bash. June 10, 2019 he dropped his first mixtape on Spinrilla titled “Northeast Baby Southeast Raised Me” and plans to drop more projects in the near future.

Mulaarie in West Philadelphia born and raised; but he didn’t play on any playgrounds. Mulaarie coming from the musically sacred grounds of Philly, didn’t have time to play. Life’s cruel

circumstances left him to fend for himself in any and every way possible, which in the end morphed himinto a sort of ‘prophet of the street.’ Mulaarie calls it as he’s lived it and the rawness of his language is drawing the attention of people with similar experiences, people curious about what that type of life is like and the big wigs who are accomplished who see in him, what they saw in themselves. Mulaarie at the tender age of 25 has lived 10 lives and now his lyrics act as a bullhorn for what it’s really like to be out there relying on instinct alone.

‘Everyone says I’m soft now’, says the burgeoning rapper. ‘But I’m not soft, I’m a father’. Life haschanged drastically for Mulaarie since the days when all he had to worry about was himself. He has completely taken on the role of a loving, nurturing father and has decided that his young king will live vastly different than he. Taking a long hard look in the mirror, Mulaarie concluded that the only way his son should live is in excellence. He’s growing up and glowing up doing the right thing by family while breaking into this industry with a vengeance.
