Rico of Relentless Records: Building a Chicago Powerhouse

Rico, the founder of Chicago-based music label Relentless Records, is leading a movement that is rapidly gaining traction. With 17 dedicated members as part of his brand, Rico is focused on turning Chicago into a powerhouse for signing artists, all while using his personal story as a foundation for the label's growth. Hailing from Chicago, Rico's journey began after he came home from prison. During a three-year period, he learned the ropes of music engineering, landing an internship at Jungle Lords Studio under Jack Russell. He then worked at 1913 Studios with Ocho Mexico and Wally for Urban Grind TV, one of Chicago's major platforms. Teaming up with Ocho, Rico brought together a team of like-minded individuals and solidified Relentless Records as a label to be reckoned with. The label name was coined by Cnote, and the team has been committed to it ever since.
The movement at Relentless Records is all about unity. "Every last one of us knows someone who's involved, so instead of going against each other, everyone came to the table to win," Rico explains. Their goal is to make Chicago a powerful hub for music, a place where artists can sign and thrive. Founded in 2020, the movement is grounded in Rico's passion for music. "I love music; it’s so natural to me. I had to make this my career," he shares. Relentless Records uses all major platforms through Roc Nation Distribution to promote their movement. So far, they’ve traveled to Wisconsin, Ohio, Alabama, Florida, and Tennessee, spreading their influence and music. Rico proudly mentions their partnership with Roc Nation, highlighting the label's commitment to growing and expanding. The mission of Relentless Records is clear: to become the label of choice for artists wanting to sign in Chicago. "We accept all breadwinners," Rico says, indicating their openness to new partners and talent who are willing to work hard and put in the effort needed for success. Looking ahead to the remainder of 2024, Rico promises growth, expansion, and the release of great music and content. The team plans to travel to Florida, Alabama, New York, Tennessee, California, and Atlanta to bring more awareness to their movement. "Greatness— we don’t have time to be coming short," Rico affirms, emphasizing their commitment to excellence. Rico believes this is the last chance for everyone at Relentless Records to make their mark. "The amount of work we’re putting in can’t be outmatched. If you’re ready to work and willing to put that work in, come tap in with us," he concludes, inviting others to join their journey and be a part of Chicago's next big music powerhouse. www.instagram.com/relentlessrecords_llc

Ferro "Stay With Me" Video

Emerging record producer, singer, and songwriter, at the age of 14, Ferro produced/ arranged, wrote, and completed an entire album.

Ferro, who is Black and Puerto Rican, was born in New York and moved to Atlanta in 2019 to attend Woodward Academy. Obsessed with Usher as a baby and singing on stage since the age of 3, his love and respect for music have been undeniable. But it wasn’t until the pandemic that he began making beats out of boredom. His mom signed him up for a virtual beats-making class with hundreds of kids from all over the world, and every time he created a new beat, his creation would be amongst the top 3. That’s when he discovered he had something special.

In the Summer of 2024, Ferro traveled to Italy with his school and performed in four cities, and at St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. He’s also attended the Otis Redding music camp, where he has produced, written, and performed at the Macon Opera House, leading to a holiday performance. That’s when he received his first paycheck
for music. Ferro says, “My mom framed the check for me, and it’s hanging prominently in my room to remind me of what’s possible when you do what you love.” On August 8th, 2024, Ferro released his first single and video, “Stay with Me,” available on all streaming platforms. “It was a labor of love. My mom allowed me to release a single if I did
the research on distribution, shot my own video and most importantly, got good grades.”

Ferro aspires to be a musical household name and believes that with hard work, it will all pay off. He modestly says regarding his latest single about life and love from a young man’s lens, “I believe it’s a solid body of work for a 16-year-old, and I have room to grow.”
